WordPress Founder: 72,000 Tumblr Users Look After Acquisition News Appears

The founder of the popular Blog Provider service, WordPress, Matt Mullenweg Sunday evening local time posted a post that revealed the fact that there was an increase in blog import activity from Tumblr to WordPress. In a post on his blog , Matt said that there were 400 to 600 blog posts in one hour for more than 72,000 Tumblr users.

What happened was, Matt said that this was not a new incident. Some time ago Posterous users fled the blogging service when news of Twitter’s acquisition of Posterous appeared, and some Instagram users when Facebook acquired the photo sharing site.

With the number of posts reaching 75 million blog posts per day, it seems that 72,000 is not a big number and has a huge impact on Tumblr which today officially belongs to Yahoo .

In his post, Mullenweg also said that the value of the acquisition by the internet giant based in Silicon Valley was still low. “I think we are at the cusp of a web publishing platform, especially people who work across domains, and while all value deals by Yahoo are based on only a few metrics, such as revenue. “Of course Tumblr is very generous, I think that value is one tenth of the value that will be generated on this platform for years to come,” Mullenweg wrote.
